Highlights - ENVI vote on General budget of the EU for 2025 - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

On 12 September, ENVI will vote on the draft opinion on the general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2025

The draft opinion underlines that the 2025 Union budget proposal, amounting to EUR 199,7 billion in commitment appropriations, addresses the various challenges facing the Union, including the climate and environmental emergency. In line with the amendments on the budgetary figures voted at the last meeting, the draft opinion considers that the redeployment from the EU4Health program of 1 billion EUR over the 2025-2027 period threatens the program's ability to achieve its critical objectives and calls for an increase in the budget for the Health Cluster under HorizonEU to support medical R&D in critical areas. The opinion also underlines, inter alia, the need to monitor the proper implementation of national social climate plans and the national ETS2 revenue.
